Allen Rosenberg, Ph.D.
Dr. Rosenberg founded the St. Lucie Chorale in 1994 and has been its Artistic Director since that time. Dr. Rosenberg earned his Bachelor of Science in Music from Columbia University, Master of Science in Music Education from the University of Western Connecticut, and Doctor of Philosophy in Music Theory and Composition from Hamilton University. He also attended Yale University, the University of Miami, and the Juilliard School of Music in New York City, where he studied conducting with Jean Morel and organ with Vernon de Tar and Virgil Fox. He served in the United State Air Force as an Instructor Navigator and Electornic Warfare Officer aboard B-47 and B-52 aircraft.
Since 1995, he has served as the organist and choirmaster at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Stuart, and prior to that he was the music director at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Fort Pierce. A member of the American Guild of Organists, he has taught music at the elementary, middle, school and college levels, in both public and private schools. He has conducted for the Treasure Coast Opera Society, the Treasure Coast Symphony, and many choruses and orchestras.
A concert organist for more than 50 years, he was invited to perform in the Summer Organ Series at St. Stephan’s Cathedral in Passau, Germany, which houses the largest church organ in the world. The concert, which featured some of his own compositions for organ, commemorated the 50th Anniversary of cultural exchange between Germany and the United States of America.
November 20, 2005, was the world premiere of his most recent composition, a commissioned work, Waldron Requiem, for soloists, chorus, string orchestra, organ and timpani at St. Andrew’s Church in Fort Pierce, Florida. The international premiere of this opus was March 22, 2008 in Ratingen, Germany, featuring the combined voices of the St. Lucie Chorale and Konzertchor '73.
